Lordstown Motors and Camping World will partner on a national electric vehicle service and collision network for Lordstown Motors vehicles.
Camping World’s more than 170 service centers around the U.S. and its Good Sam’s Roadside Assistance Program will begin to service Lordstown Motors vehicles, beginning with the Endurance, the firm’s all-electric full-sized pickup truck.
Lordstown Motors also is rolling out independently owned and operated service centers in high-density areas. At some point in the future, Camping World also might sell Lordstown Motors vehicles.
Additionally, the two companies are exploring the development of new electric vehicle products for the RV marketplace based on the Endurance platform, including a lithium-ion battery pack for travel trailers that would replace gasoline onboard generators and installation of a Good Sam charging network at Camping World locations. Their collaboration on a fully electric RV could be ready as early as the end of 2021.
Burns
The partnership was formally announced at a joint press conference with Camping World Chairman and CEO Marcus Lemonis and Lordstown Motors CEO Steve Burns at the Lordstown Motors headquarters.
“Lordstown’s partnership with Camping World will help us help ensure that our fleet customers have the highest possible up-time of their vehicles,” Burns said.
Earlier this month, Lordstown Motors received $20 million in state tax credits. The company said it will hire 1,570 workers by the end of 2025. The jobs will have an annual payroll of $91 million, and Lordstown Motors will invest $423 million at the site.
Lordstown Motors is establishing assembly lines at the former GM plant along the Ohio Turnpike that closed in March 2019. Production of the Endurance is slated to begin in 2021.
The Record-Courier is in Kent, Ohio
