The consignment worth Rs 50 Lakh belonged to Ludhiana-based Hero Cycles. The accused was identified as Dharminder Sharma of Haryana who was assigned to deliver cycles and cycle parts. On the way to Tamil Nadu, he sold the entire stuff to a man named Ashu for Rs 10 lakh.
Inspector Nardev Singh, SHO, Moti Nagar police station, said Hero Cycles had to deliver cycles and cycle parts worth Rs 50 lakh to Tamil Nadu for which they had hired services of a Ludhiana-based transporter Sanjay Kumar. Sanjay further contacted a Haryana-based broker Sukhwinder Singh for providing a truck and driver for the same. On March 30, Sukhwinder sent driver Dharminder Sharma with a truck. Sharma loaded the cycles and cycle parts and left for Tamil Nadu on March 31.
“However, when the cycles and cycle parts were not delivered, Sanjay asked Sukhwinder about it. Thereafter, an FIR was lodged on Sanjay’s complaint. The police traced the driver from Bihar who confessed that he had sold off the consignment along with Sukhwinder’s truck to a man named Ashu of Firozabad of UP for Rs 10 lakh,” the SHO added.
