At the midway point of the 2023 cycle, Mario Cristobal has the University of Miami on pace to recruit at its highest level in more than a decade.

Miami’s 2023 class currently features four commits that rank inside the Top 100 of the industry generated 247Sports Composite.

Here is a reminder of the elite talent UM has earned commitments from this cycle:

- 5-star OL Francis Mauigoa, No. 9 overall in the country

- 4-star DE Jayden Wayne, No. 41 overall in the country

- 4-star QB Jaden Rashada, No. 45 overall in the country

- 4-star TE Riley Williams, No. 66 overall in the country

UM’s 2023 class currently ranks No. 9 overall in the 247Sports Team Recruiting Rankings. The Hurricanes feature 13 commitments with seven of those prospects ranking as four or five star prospects.

The average class score for Miami’s 2023 class checks in at 92.17, which equates to a a prospect ranking in at No. 200 overall in the country.

When ranking a class based on average ranking, the Hurricanes rank as the No. six overall class, which indicates plenty of quality is committed to UM.

The Hurricanes aren’t done landing elite recruits in this 2023 cycle either.

During the month of June, UM played host via official visits to the following Top 100 recruits: 5-star CB Cormani McClain, 5-star DL David Hicks, 5-star OL Samson Okunlola, 5-star DB Joenel Aguero, 4-star LB Malik Bryant, 4-star OL Monroe Freeling, and 4-star DT John Walker.

The Hurricanes are also in the mix for Top 100 prospects like 5-star ATH Nyckoles Harbor, 5-star DE Jaquavious Russaw, 5-star DL James Smith, 5-star DE Samuel M'Pemba, 4-star WR Hykeem Williams, and 4-star RB Cedric Baxter.

That’s a total of 13 Top 100 players that UM is recruiting. Miami is on pace to easily sign its best class of the 247Sports era.

What would it take for Miami to sign its most Top 100 talents in a single cycle?

Here is a look at the Top 100 talents Miami has signed during the 247Sports era (which dates back to the 2011 cycle):

- 2011: One

- 2012: Three

- 2013: Five

- 2014: Four

- 2015: One

- 2016: One

- 2017: Three

- 2018: Six

- 2019: One

- 2020: Two

- 2021: Three

- 2022: Two

Over the past four cycles, Alabama has signed an average of 13 Top 100 prospects. How close can Miami get to that type of talent stacking remains to be seen, but there is no denying that with UM recruiting at a higher level, it helps spread the talent out.

Cristobal has Miami recruiting on an elite level in his first full cycle as head coach.

Miami is on pace to sign their best class of the 247Sports era—and more good news looks to be coming during the month of July.
