Revision to the LAPR Review Cycle - Nutrition (CA Dept of Education) - CA.gov

jumianta.blogspot.com

The California Department of Education's Nutrition Services Division (NSD) has extended the local agency procurement review (LAPR) review cycle. The length of the LAPR review cycle has been extended from a six to an eight-year cycle. This will allow the NSD to provide the essential technical assistance, resources, and training for school food authorities to successfully procure goods and services in addition to completing the numerous components of an LAPR.

Background

On June 30, 2017, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) published Policy Memo SP-39-2017, which provided state agencies the ability to conduct LAPRs on a longer cycle than three years. The NSD originally established LAPRs on a five-year cycle and then moved to a six-year cycle to coincide with an additional extension to the School Nutrition Program Annual Review cycle. On August 31, 2022, the NSD notified the USDA that the LAPRs would be performed on an eight-year cycle.
