jumianta.blogspot.com

The Jaguar E-Type is, as we all know, is one of the greatest sports cars ever created. Launched back in 1961 and produced until 1975, it today is a British icon that can fetch quite a hefty sum when one goes up for auction. The styling has inspired many great cars, but what about a motorboat? Well, Floating Motors have taken that E-Type styling and used it on a boat to great effect. This is their La Perla motorboat, of carbon fiber construction, that is styled like the Jaguar E-Type.

Technical Specifications

Before we get into the styling, let's talk about the technical stuff. We must stress though, these are not real E-Types converted to a boat. The styling is just based upon the E-Type. The La Perla can accommodate two people, and it has a fully electric powertrain. It has two Torqeedo motors that altogether produce 270 hp, which makes it 135 hp for each motor. That 270 hp is roughly 200 kW, and the units are the Deep Blue motors which produce 100 kW on their own. Now let's take a look at the styling of the boat.

Iconic Jaguar Styling

The La Perla takes the iconic E-Type styling and turns it into a stunning carbon fiber motorboat. The body of the E-Type sits upon two rather large floats that themselves have had a bit of retro styling and coloring placed upon them. The floats have a green top and black main body with gold striping across them. The body of the boat really does look just like the E-Type, and if it wasn’t for the floats you might be thinking this is simply an E-Type floating on the water — even the chrome grille is present.

Lack Of Practicality

If you wanted this to be a somewhat practical boat, well you're out of luck. Like the real car, the La Perla takes just two people. Floating Motors does however produce some other car-based boats, which a few have more seats in them. There is the La Dolce and La Foil, based upon the Fiat 500. La Dolce is a motorboat whilst La Foil is a hydrofoil. There is the Mini Mare, a Mini-based motorboat, and La Veloce, based upon the Porsche 550. The E-Type-based La Perla does not come cheap, and you are looking at a starting price of $220,000 with a 12 month delivery time and a $10,000 advance payment as these boats are currently on pre-order.
