Supercross heads east for round seven of the series. While the 450SX is in it’s stride, Minneapolis marks the first round of the 250SX East Coast championship. Tonight Jason Anderson and Jett Lawrence came out on top.

450SX Main Event

Tonight’s 450SX main event was full of surprises from the get go. Cooper Webb grabbed the holeshot and led the opening laps for the first time this season. Chase Sexton and Jason Anderson followed close right out of the gate and got around Webb after the KTM rider led the first seven laps.

Once Sexton took over the top it looked to be all over for the rest of the competition. Sexton broke away from the rest of the field and proceeded to check out from Anderson. The gap remained around two to three seconds as Anderson sat within striking position. With just two to go, Sexton tucked the front end off a slippery on-off jump and got ejected off his Honda. The red cross flags came out for Sexton but he was able to get up under his own power. He did not finish the race and is credited with 16th place. This finish drops him to sixth in the overall points.

Jason Anderson looked to be second best tonight until Sexton went down with just two laps to go. Anderson ran a solid race behind Sexton and sat second for nearly the whole race after making his way around Webb. His consistency paid off as he stayed in it to win it and eventually secured his third win of the season. He’s now only three points behind overall leader Tomac.

Cooper Webb landed on the box in second.

Cooper Webb finally grabbed another podium at Minneapolis. Last year’s champ has been in a slump all year as he learns the new KTM but started up front with a holeshot and led the first seven laps of tonight’s main event. He got shuffled back a few spots but ran a consistent third for most of the race. As with Anderson, Webb bumped up a spot when Sexton hit the deck. This second place finish matches Webb’s best result of the year and moves him to fifth in the overall points.

Marvin Musquin put in his best ride of the year with a third.

Marvin Musquin put down his best result of the year with a third tonight. He started around fifth but capitalized o everyone else’s mistakes throughout the race.  The track broke down and became ultra-technical which actually worked in Musquin’s favor as he jumped through the whoops and rutted rhythm sections. While he ran fifth for most of the race, crashes from Stewart and Sexton moved him into third at the checkers.

Eli Tomac had a rough night in the main event as he tangled with team mate Dylan Ferrandis early in the race. Tomac re-entered the race in 20th position and was forced to fight his way through the field. He ran faster lap times via different rhythm sections and ended up sixth by the end of the race. With Anderson winning, Tomac gives up a handful of points to his title rival and is in the clear by only three points.

Jett Lawrence came out swinging with a win.

The main event however belonged only to Jett Lawrence as he holeshotted and led every lap of the race. Jett was pegged as a pre-season favorite but ran a bit under the radar during the day. He qualified fourth and finished second in the heat race. Jett came through when it counted and stomped the field in Minneapolis.

A solid ride for Austin Forkner who finished second.

Austin Forkner started off his season with a second place finish in the main event. He started right behind Jett but just never got close enough to make a pass stick. Forkner was fastest in qualifying and is another rider who is pegged to be up front all season. He locked into second and ran a smart race through to the finish.

Cameron Mcadoo brought it home for third.

Cameron Mcadoo rounded out the podium tonight at round one. Mcadoo also rode a smart race as he jumped into third place early and stayed there for the duration of the 20 lap main event. This is a solid start to the season after multiple wild rides during the 2021 season. Mcadoo’s third place result puts the Pro Circuit Kawasaki team 2-3 in the main event.
