JS Garage Oceanside has built on its local community presence by playing host to the inaugural Motors, Mullets & Mikey Wright evening.

In anticipation of Mikey heading down to Mexico for the next WSL Championship Tour event, the JS Industries North American HQ opened its doors to give guests a genuine experience in line with many of Mikey’s favourite things.

Headlining the prizes, JS gave away a signed Monsta 2020 surfboard, while Quiksilver offered Mikey’s new signature capsule, covering a lucky winner head to toe with gear for both in and out of the water. Igloo then came to the party for mums, dads and the kids with the ultimate cooler giveaway coming in all sizes, for just about any occasion. Special thanks to both FCS and Futures as well, with both brands always keeping the giant fin wall at the Garage stocked up, and generously giving away top tier fins to keep a few lucky groms ripping.

From wetsuits and surfboards to haircuts and cars, Mikey’s a man who knows what he likes. And it didn’t take much convincing for a good portion of the crowd to line up for a Mikey style mullet, care of Uppercut Deluxe. With the fresh cuts free for anyone who dared, it’ll be easy to spot the surfers cheering for Mikey loudest in the next WSL contests – most of the Oceanside High School surf team… And a few extra enthusiastic parents.

Outside the Garage, Mikey had his mates at Neville’s Automotive Company bring down several hot rods (including his own) as the perfect backdrop for a full afternoon and evening to show the crowd what gets him excited alongside hundreds of surfboards. Inside, at the Traktor Board Riders Club lounge, food and beverages provided by Fireball Pizza and Stone Brewing were a huge hit, leading straight into a board talk with Mikey and surprise guest Conner Coffin.

JS Industries USA President of Operations, Heath Walker, couldn’t have been happier with the event. “We really had everything going on here and I already can’t wait to do this again – from the range of activities and lucky door prizes, to the team riders giving back, local businesses jumping on board, and all of the families having an amazing time. Our focus is on the community and the next generation, and that’s reflected by who’s showed up and loved the space.”

Mikey Wright commented “ I spoke to Jason about a month back to doing something in the US with JS. They put on this killer event and the turn out was mental. Kids everywhere and all lining up for a mullet.

Mexico will be my last WCT event and then I’ll focus heavily of free surfing again. I was stoked to hear kids still want to see and watch free surfing. I’m pumped”.
