A local bike seller in search of a new home and a Florida spa looking to expand into Colorado are each requesting tax and fee incentive packages from Louisville to help their operators set up shop in the city.
Louisville Cyclery LLC has a storefront at 1032 E. South Boulder Road, but the owner of the building is planning to redevelop the property. Owner Greg Jones has identified a nearly 3,100-square-foot space nearby at 889 E. South Boulder Road to move the store and expects to spend $200,000 on renovations, according to a memo from Louisville’s economic vitality office.
He has requested fee and tax rebates that would total $59,633 over five years.
Louisville Cyclery employs 12 people and could add as many as eight more workers over that period.
Should the move occur, the new shop is expected to be open by September, according to city documents.
Stephanie Schlageter operates a spa in Bellair Bluffs, Florida, that provides services such as Botox injections, hair removal and body sculpting.
She’s planning to open Medspa Services of Colorado LLC, a similar spa concept, in the 3,300-square-foot first-floor space at 957 Main St. and expects finishing costs to total $577,500.
Medspa is seeking tax and fee rebates totaling $98,882 over five years, at the end of which the company expects to employ 15 workers.
Louisville regularly provides business assistance packages to companies moving to or expanding in the city, so long as they meet criteria related to sales tax generation, business-type diversity and ability to draw new customers.
So far in 2021, the city has approved new business assistance agreements with 824 South Inc., South Street Market, and EarthHero LLC.
The Louisville City Council will review the two new assistance applications during a hearing Tuesday.
