A resourceful Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild player managed to create a makeshift motorboat in the game through clever usage of the Master Cycle Zero. Nintendo recently revealed gameplay footage from the long-awaited sequel to its 2017 Game of the Year by means of a teaser trailer during E3 2021, but fans haven't yet abandoned the original groundbreaking open world game, or stopped finding new and bizarre things to do in it.
There are many aspects that have contributed to the overwhelming success of Breath of the Wild, but one of the most prevalent is how creative players can be when it comes to doing just about anything in Hyrule. The laws of physics in Breath of the Wild are not nearly as strict as those in reality, and clever players have discovered a wide variety of ways to bend them to very near the breaking point. Now another trick can be added to the long list the player base has cultivated over the last four years, and this one comes in the form of water travel.
Twitter user Aycellin posted a video demonstrating how a player can combine one of the rafts on Hyrule's shoreline with the Master Cycle Zero to create a makeshift motorboat. Usually the rafts are meant to be propelled using a Korok Leaf, a weapon that produces puffs of wind when swung, but Aycellin's video shows that by positioning the Master Cycle Zero just right a player can use the rear wheel to move through the water at a reasonable pace. The original Tweet is in French and an English translation can be found on Nintendo Life.
Even though the game has been available to players for over four years now, Breath of the Wild is still able to provide interesting tidbits of content on a fairly consistent basis given the title's age. Not only that, but the open world Zelda entry continues to be a strong source of inspiration for fan art, particularly when it comes to recreations in other video games. Now that Breath of the Wild 2 finally has gameplay footage to show, it is likely that the affection for its predecessor will not only remain high but increase as time draws closer to the sequel's release.
It bodes well for players that Breath of the Wild 2 is set to come out at least five years after the first game. The time Nintendo had to create the first one is no doubt a huge contributing factor to its success, and it appears that the sequel will have an equally long development period. Nintendo will also likely take this opportunity to adjust some gameplay elements going forward and perhaps provide more straightforward methods to pull off some of the more ridiculous feats players have managed in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. After all, boats are nothing new to the series, and a more reliable form of water travel would likely be welcomed by fans.
The Breath of the Wild sequel is scheduled to release sometime in 2022.
