Washington DC, DC — The US Government’s Highway Safety Agency has approved General Motors’ request to recall four 2021 vehicles due to an airbag warning light failure.
The National Road Safety Authority said on Friday that the cars in question included Buick Envision, Cadillac CT4 and CT5, Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Corvette, Suburbs and Tahoe, and GMC Yukon and Yukon XL.
The government said that 285,622 vehicles were affected by software-related issues, which could lead to unstable airbag lights and prevent drivers from being notified of the actual issue. The owners of the vehicles included in the recall will be notified by GM in writing later next month.
GM will update the vehicle software for free to fix an issue that Detroit carmakers reported to regulators last week.
NHTSA is urging people to confirm the vehicle’s open recall at https://ift.tt/2iqRZp7. The owner must enter the 17-digit vehicle identification number. This is usually printed on the state registration document.
