State television in Yemen has reported that two ballistic missiles struck the house of the governor of Marib on Sunday, leaving the property littered with destroyed furniture and burned-out debris.
The extensive damage extended to a nearby mosque, but no injuries were reported, the report said.
Provincial governor Maj. Gen. Sultan al-Aradah blamed Houthi rebels and said he wasn't surprised by what happened.
"Their history is destruction, killing and extermination of everyone who disagrees with them," he added.
Houthis use missiles and drones obtained from Iran. United Nations experts who have examined debris of projectiles fired by the Houthis have determined the Iranian origin of several missile systems.
Tehran supports the Hotuhtis in its regional opposition to Saudi Arabia that has intervened in the country to support the internationally recognized government.
Yemen has been convulsed by civil war since 2014 when the Iran-backed Houthis captured the capital, Sanaa, and much of the north of the country.
Fighting flared up again last week between Houthi rebels and pro-government forces in the country's southern province of Shabwa, killing 35 from both sides.
Marib, some 115 kilometers (70 miles) east of Sanaa on the edge of Yemen's large deserts, is a strategic gateway from the central highlands to southern and eastern provinces.
