BOWLING GREEN, Ky. –  A part shortage is to blame for General Motors Bowling Green Corvette Assembly Plant officials shutting down second shift over the past week.

The shut down will continue throughout the first week of November as well.

The plant is not releasing much information about the issue, but have released a statement:

“We can confirm that Bowling Green Assembly did not run second shift production last week October 25 and second shift production is also paused this week November 1 due to a temporary parts supply issue. Although we are not providing specifics regarding the material shortage, we can say it is not related to the global semiconductor chip issue.

Importantly, GM’s supply chain, manufacturing and engineering teams are working closely with our supply base to mitigate any further impact on production. We expect the plant to resume normal operations on Monday, November 8.”

GM announced the addition of the second shift back in April of 2019.
