MANISTEE — The Manistee County Community Foundation is accepting grant applications for projects and programs that "enhance the quality of life in Manistee County" through the Summer Grant Cycle application deadline on June 15.
"The deadline applies to applications submitted for consideration of funding under the Minger Family Endowment Fund and the Limitless Fund and Field of Interest Fund grant programs. Funding decisions are anticipated to be announced by Aug. 31," according to a news release from the community foundation.
For those who wish to apply, the first step is to complete a grant inquiry form which can be found on the foundations website. Those eligible include 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations, school districts and units of government, including federally recognized tribal governments.
The Minger Family Endowment Fund, established in 2017 by Forest R. Minger Jr., "provides support to expand access to recreation (active and/or outdoor) and enhance recreational opportunities in Manistee County."
Projects that improve recreation opportunities and access to recreation within the county by "maintaining and expanding existing recreation facilities and acquiring and developing new recreation facilities" will be considered.
"Requests for projects under $5,000 are accepted on a rolling basis and funding decisions are generally made within 45 days," the news release states.
The Foundation’s Limitless Fund, established in 2016 through an anonymous donor’s challenge and an outpouring of community support, enables the foundation "greater resources and flexibility to respond to a broad array of ever changing community needs."
Submissions that improve any area of life other than recreation are eligible for consideration under the Limitless Fund and Field of Interest Fund Grant Program.
Grant guidelines and application instructions are available on the foundation’s website at www.manisteefoundation.org/receive. Interested applicants are encouraged to contact foundation staff at (231) 723-7269 or grants@manisteefoundation.org to discuss their proposed project. The foundation’s Fall Grant Cycle application deadline is Oct. 15 with funding decisions by Dec. 31.
