Anglo American PLC said Wednesday that rough diamond sales for De Beers's 10th sales cycle of 2021 were $332 million.
The FTSE 100 mining company said the amount represents the expected sales value for the period of Dec. 6 to Dec. 21, as the group continues to implement flexible approaches to curb Covid-19-related restrictions.
De Beers's ninth sales cycle between Nov. 8 and Nov. 23 amounted to $438 million.
"Despite the ongoing challenges of Covid-19, our rough diamond sales for the year are higher than what we saw in 2019 before the onset of the pandemic, and much higher than our sales in 2020. Consumer demand for diamond jewelry is continuing to perform very well over the key holiday period, so we head towards the new year with positive trading conditions and industry sentiment," De Beers Chief Executive Bruce Cleaver said.
