ALBANY, N.Y. — The Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) and CDPHP recently announce that the Capital Region’s premier bike-share program has ended season five with a record-breaking 70,300 rides and more than 25,000 members in 2021.

Dedicated riders made this possible, and we thank our community for their continued commitment to staying healthy and active during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are beyond thrilled see record-breaking ridership on CDPHP Cycle! as we put a bow on season five.” CDTA CEO Carm Basile said in a press release. “It reinforces the need and want for more mobility options in the Capital Region. We want to thank our riders, partners and the community for their continued support in making CDPHP Cycle! a huge success.

“We can’t wait to welcome everyone back in Spring 2022!”

“As yet another season of CDPHP Cycle! comes to a close, I continue to be amazed at how popular this program has become and how many records we continue to break, year after year,” said John D. Bennett, MD, president and CEO of CDPHP. “Thank you to our members, partners, and especially to CDTA for giving our region a fun, healthy, and sustainable form of transportation.”

Helping to drive record-breaking ridership, CDPHP Cycle! expanded into Warren County earlier this year and now serves parts of Lake George, Queensbury, and Glens Falls using the Warren County Bikeway as a connector. The popularity of the program also allowed for expansion to SUNY Adirondack in Queensbury, where students are able to rent CDPHP Cycle! bikes on campus as well as throughout the system area.

As the season wrapped up, the community rode 160,000 miles, burned 6.3 million calories, reduced 141,000 pounds of carbon, and saved $92,600 dollars.

CDPHP Cycle! will return in Spring 2022, with new technology, more bikes, and more racks. For more information, including additional rental fees, rack locations, and more, visit www.cdphpcycle.com.
